COURSE OVERVIEW
The operation and maintenance of valves will give the water plant operator on-th-job training to identify valves and describe both the operation and maintenance of a variety of valves (gate valves, globe valves, needle valves, butterfly valves, check valves, ball valves, plug valves, pressure relief valves, and solenoid valves).

COURSE OUTLINE
Identify a valve.
Describe the operation and maintenance of gate valves.
Describe the operation of globe valves.
Describe the operation of needle valves.
Describe the operation of butterfly valves.
Describe the operation of check valves.
Describe the operation of ball valves.
Describe the operation of plug valves.
Describe the operation of pressure relief valves.
Describe the operation of solenoid valves.
Maintain valves below grade.
Operate a curb stop valve.
Plan to isolate distribution line sections.
Order gate valves for bury.
Describe operation of automatic valves.
